Not sure what you mean but there is basicly 4 rear end carrier styles. Open, limited slip, locker and a spool. Different companys have different names for limited slip ie Chevy=Posi Traction, Chrysler=Sure Grip, Ford=Traction Lok are a few. Not sure what a equa-lok is but hope this helps. JR
equa-lock is a limited slip...uses clutches and springs. Locker uses gears.....much stronger, also noiser. Spool is a solid differential, unsuitable for street use.
Mostly street/some strip = Traction-Lok
Mostly strip/some street = Locker
All strip = Locker or spool
So if I'm looking to get an 8" equa-lok rear, I won't have issues with noise and chatter? Sorry for the questions, but it gets annoying when everyone uses different names for the same thing.
what do you consider "issues?" Well-built Trac-locs are essentially silent. Lockers are audible at *street* level somewhat, esp when making a slow turn...on the track, you'd never know the difference. The other adv to the Locker is it has no clutch packs to wear out, like a trac-loc does.
