ok bear with me here fella's.

I have a Grand Cherokee and the 8.8 swap has become popular for the off-roaders to do. Out of the explorer it has thicker/bigger tubes than a Dana 60, 31 spline axles, and can even be found with 4.10 gears and a trac-loc. this is the exact one i'm looking at.

the problem is that I dont want to lose ABS, and so far the only way a guy was able to make the ABS work was to modify some stuff in the housing that IMO is not the right way to do things. Now the Mustang ABS uses wheel sensors just like the grand cherokee. Any way to put the Mustang ABS tone rings, backing plate and brake parts on the end of the explorer axle?

see how the mustangs 8.8 has the tone rings exposed?

and theres the explorers.

Will i just need to weld a new axle end on, with the mustang backing plate/brakes, and put the tone rings on, i think i need moser 31 spline tone ring adapters.

or are the explorer disc/mustang disc swappable as well?

thanks for your help...this is a HUGE pita so far.

Wow, wish I knew the answer to this... I've been thinking about modifying an Explorer axle for my '65 Fastback, and was just recently thinking of how interesting it would be to have functional ABS on a vintage Mustang. Hmm.
