I bought a Explorer intake that I was told had the internal EGR, however I have since found out it is an external EGR one. My question is: Is there any way I can use my EGR or maybe one from an Explorer to retain an EGR?

I believe on the Explorer setups the EGR was part of the Exhaust manifold. That being said, you would have to tap into one of the header primary's so it could be used. Along with maybe the Explorer EGR stuff that mounts to the EGR spacer.

Damn that's what I thought. I may have to finish painting mine and sell it and get one with an internal one. Maybe someoen will come up with a less labor intensive procedure.

If I run it w/o the EGR will it cause any drivability or MPG issues?

I dont run the EGR system.

I get 23-24 MPG's with 4.10 gears. No kidding either.

Just keep the EGR valve, then plug its electrical connector into it. This should cause code 33 to be logged. Then the ECM will automatically delete its function.

Holt spit batman that's better MPG's than I get now! I get 20 w/ 3.08 gears. I may have to seriously go ahead and try that.

Hold up. I'm not saying that removing the EGR is going to give you that kind of MPG's.

Just stating that I have never witnessed the EGR hurting MPG's when it was deleted.

I have messed around with my car over and over and over to get the MPG's where its at.

Low gears do have a down fall on the highway(RPM wise). But they also keep the engine under a lighter load, which requires less fuel to power the car. With a higher gear the engine has to work harder(load) to accomplish the same as the lower gears.
