Which is correct intake gasket set when swapping out the stocker for an explorer upper and lower. both have the rubber front and back seals vs. the cork ones. I normally just laid down a 1/4" bead of permatex but I hear the rubber seals are good. Do I buy the 93334 set and the separate upper to lower intake gasket for the explorer

A. Fel-Pro A.MS95952- Not steel core
larger Intake port size Width 1.28" x Height 1.98"
Has later water passages but correct upper to lower intake gasket
intake to head gaskets not as good quality
Includes gaskets#
5511 Distributor O-ring
94059 IAC gasket
95504 Intake manifold to block front
95505 Intake manifold to block rear
95952 intake gaskets
95953 Upper to lower

B. MS93334- steel core
Smaller Intake port size Width 1.15" x Height 1.96"
Has later water passages.
Includes gaskets#
5511 Distributor O-ring
90361 intake gaskets
93334 Upper to lower
94059 IAC gasket
95504 Intake manifold to block front
95505 Intake manifold to block rear

thanks

Perfect thread about exactly what you are asking. Tmoss even gives 2cents in there. Spoiler....You want the steel core.

If you want to see what happens when you use a paper gasket in the lower intake i can dig up the thread about my 1250's failing and spewing coolant inside my engine requiring a drain/ fill +seafoam and new filter to run 30 min./ drain again and add new oil and another filter.

Yeah. I've always stayed away from those crappy 1250's. Guess I should get the 93334 with the 90361 steel core gaskets even though the port sizes are smaller and buy the 95953 upper to lower for the explorer..

I wish their was a way to modify the port....if they were 1250's all you would need was scissors. lol

Would using the slightly bigger 1250 1.2 x 2.0 hurt things? They do make a steel core 1250S3 Has the steel core and pinto seal.
