i have a bbk 70mm throttle body and trick flow adapter and i was wondering if a explorer intake is a worth while mod or if i should just get a non-ford one?

If you have stock heads, then the Explorer will work fine because it flows more than your heads anyway. Its just not the best looking intake.

It depends on how much you can get one for. Search your area junk yard for the 96(?) explorers 5.0 and see what you can find cheap. Also a good cheap upgrade are the explorer heads ( gt40-p casting) they are on the same engines that the intakes come on.

is there anything special you have to do or buy to use an explorer intake on a 94-95 gt?, also is the explorer intake manifolds equivelant to the cobra intake? if not what is it equivelant to? i am thinking about getting one, thanks

I woould just get something like a Performer or a Trick Flow. And "cb18201", You have to get a elbow and it will be a direct bolt on. Its similar to the Cobra intake.

yea but i could get an explorer one from a junk yard for very cheap , im on a tight budget, anyone know if i can use my stock strut tower brace with this intake?

Nope its too tall. I have been driving without a STB for some time now and I can't ever notice. Go for it.

You will also need a 94-95 intake adapter. They retail for about $100, but I think you could find one in the classifieds for a good price. I believe any brand adapter will work. Then you will need some new gaskets and some vacuum hose. It was really easy to install mine.

how much difference did you feel with your Explorer intake? how much $$ are we talking about here at your every day junk yard?

it was a 96 explorer right?

I noticed a seat in the pants difference with it. I'm not shure how much you could find one for at a jy. I paid $225 new from a shop that got some new ones a few years ago. I'm not shure on the year but you could do a search on this board in the 5.0 area and see what comes up. I think they they where around the 96-97 time line And they might be eddie bauer packages but i'm not sure. The intake plaque says 5.0 right on it.

96-2001 explorers had them. Some mountaineers have them.

I think I needed a piece of hose to run on a spot on the intake. Installing the intake will be really easy. It was the first mod I did to my car when I was 17 and never really done to much on car engines before that. If you goo the top of the 94-95 tech page look at 94-95 FAQ and there is an intake install guide there and that will show you what's involved with an install.
