There is a 1999 explorer upper and lower intake for sale locally. Is 1999 a good year to get these from? I seem to recall someone telling me that some years require capping off vacuum ports or some not being compatible with EGRs. Here is a picture if it helps. Thanks!
From what i remember off top. Its more so the lower from that 97+ that doesnt have the spots for the ECT, and somn else. Both 5/8 npt. You can drill/tap it still on the runner but its thinner and supposively more prone to breakage.
Also doesnt have the egr passage in the lower, i think.
96-97 is the ideal year to get. Has the proper ACT boss to drill/tap, and the internal EGR. Also, the upper intake mount flanges are slightly thicker, as the later intakes tend to snap an ear off here and there.
The 98-later intakes are still perfectly fine to use, and if you are deleting the EGR it doesn't matter anyway.
