I'm throwin an explorer motor in my 88 5.0


besides swapping MAF what is needed to drop this engine in here?


I'm thinking of just doing springs/1.7rockers/B cam


Mac Longtubes.. X pipe and with the existing flowmastercatback..


is there anything special/hard to do with this swap?

It sounds like you're on the right track. Just swap over your accessories. If it has the GT40P heads, you may want to look into different springs, since the Explorer spec springs weren't performance oriented, but it can be run just the way it is. GreenMustangGt over in the 94-95 section has an Explorer engine in his, running remote mounted twin turbos on it, and I believe he still has factory springs.

Look up V8only he has a very good write up of this. You have to change over the oil pan 2.

thread to the top... never heard about the oil pan..


I was under the impression all that is needed to be swapped over is if its a 98+ engine and you need to drop a dizzy in it..

existing motor mounts work right?
