Explorer-Mustang rear end swap?

Currently, my 2000 4.0l Explorer has a 4.10 rear end in it. I am wondering if it is posible to trade it with the stock rear end in my 04' GT. I believe I should be able to just trade "punpkins", however I may be wrong. Any help.
or ideas will be appreciated.

i beleive the explorer uses 31spline axles in the diff as well as an extra clutch on each side. i was looking into getting an explorer trak-loc as a cheap upgrade for my mustang.

I don't think the explorer has trak-lok and i beleive it's a 31-spline carrier while the stang is 28.

Personally, i would just buy 4.10's and swap them into the Mustang, unless for some reason you really want tall gears in your V6 explorer.

If it's 4WD/AWD you'll need front gears as well

The Explorer uses 31 spline axles. So you cant just swap the pumpkin. I know a few guys that have done this though...they just also bought some Moser axles. Good performance upgrade!

What about using the whole rear end out of something like a Mark VII? Those came with 3.73's. Might have to change the brakes, but I would think it's mostly a bolt in affair.
