A member of a local club is selling a brand new Ford Explorer 8.8 rear end. It has Zero miles on it, FRPP 4.10 gears, 31 spline axles, Posi, disk brakes. Pic is Below:

Would this be a direct swap for my 2001 Auto GT? If not what would I need to do to make it work? He is asking for $600 which sounds like an awesome deal to me, but I dont want to buy it if fitment will be an issue.

Thanks for the Help :SNSign:

Keep in mind since is a solid axle it came from a pre-2002 Explorer. They were all leaf spring setups, so the mounts may be different since our 8.8's are springs and control arms.

Need to find out if it has the mounts for everything first.

Well from what I can see from the pic I would say no. I just dropped my rear not to long ago so the way it looks is still fresh. That axel looks like it is set up for leaf springs I see no mounting points for the upper or lower control arms. That housing looks way different also.

He can't use it. I would not even bother measuring it up, there is no mounts for the upper and lowers on there. As I said in a earlier post he can use the guts exept for the axles, the housing he can not use.
