I have just built a rear on my car and did a 5 lug conversion. my problem is my back axle studs. I put extended studs on the rear and have 17x8 bullit rims with nitto nt05 245/45/17 and the axle threads stick out to far. I really do not like how this looks. The rear has drum brakes and the current lugnuts have a hole in them. Do they make largers lugnuts? can anyone supply a part number? If not i guess i can just put smaller studs but i really dont wanna do that. any help would really be appreciated.

Change the studs, you will thank me later.

I went through the same thing, i had to put a standard lug nut on (cheap kind meant to be behind a center cap), then a capped lug nut over it.

Mine were threaded studs, not pressed in, so they would back out.

thanks

I Dont want to have to rip into the rear again but i guess i might have too if i want the desired look. Are you guys sure that a company out there does not make longer lugnuts that would easily fit on the extended axle studs without the UGLY hole in the middle. I would really prefer a closed lugnut.

I used cheap pepboys ones with the hole, then put my enclosed ones over the top.
I didn't find any that would cover a 3 inch stud.

Take a wheel off and check the distance behind the flange.
It may be possible to cut the 3 inch stud in half, unscrew it, then put the 2 inch stud in from behind.

Been a while since mine was apart, so i don't remember how much rooms is there.
Also remember, i have screw in studs. You didn't say if yours were pressed or screwed in.

why not just mark your studs at the end of your lug nuts and just cut off the excess of your studs, But yes they make some pretty long lug nuts with a 60 degree conical end

Weld Racing 601-1466 - Weld Racing Lug Nuts
I was thinking of something along those lines. Do you think that would work?

what is the lug the bullit rims take is it a cone type or the one u last posted. the one i posted is a cone type and the last on is like a weld rim uses. if u what to keep the long studs u are going to have to use a open end lug

I think it's all a moot effort.

I know you don't want to pull the rear apart.

But it really is very easy.
You don't have to undo the center section, just release the axles.
If you get a squeeze pump and save the fluid you don't even need to buy more.
Should take no more than an hour.

I worked around it for a while like you want to, but having been through it, i just don't think it's worth dealing with it.
