Hi I'd like to find out what factor means in relation to an 83 ford 5.0 4v HO roller camshaft. It is described as 35 degrees overlap which I understand and a factor of 19.51 which I do not understand. Any help would be much appreciated.
Welcome to stangnet, I did some searching and found that question in another post but no answer, perhaps a cam expert can help: @EDC
Be patient, he is a busy man.
Flat tappet camshafts can only withstand so much valve spring pressure pushing the lifter against the cam lobe. Cam Lobe ... This is a limiting factor when compared to a roller setup. ... arm ratio. More cam lift means the valve will open further.
91-95:
Lift: .278 intake, .278 exhaust
Duration: 276 intake, 266 exhaust
Overlap: 39 degrees, 19.51 factor
Lobe Center: 116 intake, 115 exhaust
he is asking about the meaning of: 19.51 factor in the overlap line above
