Hey all. I did a search on this first, but didn't really come up with an answer for what I'm questioning. I was considering getting a heat extractor hood from Saleen, but have recently come across someone who used to work at an authorized Saleen dealer that told me some of the hoods seemed to have issues where the metal part for the hood latch would seperate from the fiberglass, then you'd have to use hood pins. I find that completely unacceptable! Is that normal for the hoods? Has this happened to anyone on here at all?

Thanks -

....I've never heard of that before and I've owned 3 different 94-98 Saleens with the optional lightweight hood on them. You might have to adjust the screws that hold the latch to the frame of the car but that solved the hood not latching properly problem. The other compliant I have heard was the gap between the front fenders and hood were completely off. The fenders had to be adjusted either direction to get the proper gap....

Yes, I had problems with the latch assembly. My '04 Saleen had the heat extractor hood and I ended up installing hood pins.

Read first and sixth post...link to my thread.

Thanks for the replies. I just wanted to her it from someone else too. I really like the heat extractor hood, and although the hood pin install turned out nicely on that droolable #91, I didn't plan on using pins. Maybe I'll go with an R hood.

Are you talking about the light weight hood that was an optional hood on the S281? I have 60,000 miles on mine, still intact.

However, when I first got the car the dealer broke (2) of them trying to shut the hood before they found out I had a broken headlight bucket and the hood couldn't latch.
