I have a 1991 LX 5.0 convertible with a Ford factory am/ f/m cassette radio. The radio was working fine and then stopped working. Everything on the radio lights up and I can hear the tape turning when I insert a cassette tape, but no sound from any speaker. When it first started doing this it would play for awhile then shut off, then play again, and finally nothing. I got another factory radio from Ebay and still no sound from any speaker. Again I can hear tape turning no sound from speakers.
All fuses in fuse panel are working.
I. Started disconnecting speakers one at a time to see if that made a difference, it did not, still no sound.
2. Don't see any amplifier or wires under passenger seat.
I want to purchase an aftermarket a/m, f/m , c/d player, but I don't want to spend the money for the unit, wire harness, etc and still have no sound from speakers!!
Could the amplifier be located somewhere else for a convertible?
Any clues on what the problem could be?
Thanks
Larry
