Has anyone figured out how to activate the factory shift indicator light that's in the middle of the tach? You can see the outline with a flashlight, right below the 4K mark. It's shown lit up in some early dash pics, but apparently didn't get activated for production.

I'm assuming it's a redline shift light, not a "shift now for best fuel economy" light like my old, crapper Grand Am had.

It would appear that since its an arrow up, that it would eb a fuel economy thing. Odd thing is that the GTOs have them as well and dont use the shift light either.

I just contacted my tuner and asked him to look into acessing it.

Just for refrence, there is a guy who did figure out how to do it on the GTOs and found out they had an audible beep system on them.

Now if Fres can just figure out how to do it.... we will be in business

Nice catch man... I never noticed it was there.

Why would they put something there, then not activate it? That is quite strange.

I would like to know if you can activate it, since I drive mostly in bumper to bumper traffic on the freeway, I would be interested to get better mpg. Although, I do avg 23mpg now.

On the other hand, I might get really tired of the light flashing pretty quick. Especially driving at night. Hhhhmmmm.........

I asked about this in the Talk forum like two months ago and no one even bothered ton say antyhing. I was wondering why it had it and why it doesnt work. I was thinking maybe that it was a redline thing. Like a, Hey you're about to blow me up...SHIFT!

Maybe it's some fuel economy indicator light they activate for overseas sales.

And yeah, I hated the economy light on my Grand Am.
