What fan clutch are you purchasing?
There are 2 kinds you can buy.
A thermatic and non-thermatic.
Make sure you have a thermatic one, as the non will be harder to spin.
You can tell the thermatic ones by the quarter size coil of metal in the front of the fan clutch. This should clear up your problem.

Feel free to send me that e-fan, then! No sense letting it go to waste as cannon fodder...

Thermatic, but it turns out that the MAF sensor was getting flooded with turbulent air

LX302, did you actually read though this thread? He is getting fan wash into his open under hood air filter. Thermo or non thermo fan clutch is still gonna wreak havick on the MAF.

well I found this thread incredably useful. I'll tuck that away for later. Would this issue ever happen with a speed density car? I would think no because of the MAPS running off vacuum.

You are right. It's not an issue on SD cars.

I'll have to file this away myself. I never considered it because I don't like exposed underhood filter elements.

Glad to hear you got it whipped Strype, and nice work getusummm with the solution.

Strype, the reason others have it so easy because it all happens to him.

Did I just refer to myself in the 3rd person again

UPDATE:

As some of you know I've had a PLETHORA of overheating problems. So my 93 Coupe has sat literally for months, like almost a year.

So when it was figured out that the backwash of air from the fan was causing my MAF to screw up, I put the stock clutch fan back on and put the factory airbox back on. It still overheated. So I was toying with the idea of selling the car.

Well I cleaned out my garage last weekend and found a brand new $70 clutch fan that I didn't know I had. So I switched them out and drove the car in 50 degree weather all day almost. I went through almost a tank of gas and the car never once got over 150 degrees!

So I am calling this a closed case, at least until I test it out in 90 degree weather again.

Glad to have my car back!

I'm posting this in both of my threads to tie them off for SEARCH purposes. Hope it helps someone else.
