Has this happened to anyone? My fan keeps rubbing the top of my fan shroud. What was the problem with yal's? I moved the shourd clips from the radiator but it didn't help. Thanks

normally when the motor mounts have gone south, the motor follows, literally. the fan will generally hit the BOTTOM of the shroud. yours hits the top. is everthing lined up perfectly with the radiator and all that? does the motor and trans tilt down in the rear?
i would still do the mounts, but check stuff out first. the motor is tilted up in the front now, no?
for what it is worth, the poly mounts keep the height about the same as stock mounts, whereas vert mounts should raise it up a little, which sounds like something you dont need. i have a vert, so i dont know about the first two, but when my fan started hitting the LOWER part of the shroud, new vert mounts raised the fan right back up to the middle of the fan oriface.
good luck.

Hissin...when you say poly, are you referring to urethane? Reason being is I helped install 2 sets of prothane engine mounts, and notice that they seem to sit higher- to the point that parts of the engine rub the hood insulation. Any insight?

Blk92, sorry, i dont have personal experience with poly. i started a thread about 9 months or a year ago when i was having fan interference issues (blades rubbing the bottom of the shroud). i asked what people liked. a few folks said that the poly mounts allowed the engine to sit equal or slightly lower than the worn stock mounts.

now, i think i see my error. i did not ask what they were comparing to. if they had verts or vert mounts, perhaps the poly (you were right on, urethane) mounts were being compared to the more robust vert mounts. that could be a possibility.
now poly mounts may sit higher than stock (non vert) mounts, since the non vert units sit lower by a smidge, as i recall.
i did not even think of this until you mentioned it, since i do have a vert and did not contemplate a non-vert mount.

sorry for the confusion (my only goal from my thread was to find out if urethane would raise the motor the same as the stock style vert mounts to fix my problem).

i am sure you are right, and i apologize for any confusion.

thanks for taking it easy on me (i take pride in trying to give good info, but non-vert mount to urethane comparisons did not dawn on me).
as for urethane: naw, i am too poor for urethane, so i went with new vert mounts (2 motor and trans mount was under 50 bucks) vs more like 150-180 for poly for all three.

i dont know how much clearance there is under the hood, but the fact that your friends' motors hit the underhood insulation is weird. if they have mechanical fans, were the fans hitting the top of the shroud?

i can t figure that out.

Ah, we thought of that, so we changed the transmount of one car. Same height. I was thinking we installed it wrong, but when the second car rode high too, I chalked it up to the prothanes just being that way. I am gonna spring for the more expensive energy suspension ones and see if they are any different.

As for the fans, both are the stock fans. We had to adjust the shrouds to the highest point in their adjustment to keept them from hitting the top.

I just priced motor mounts. For some reason the conv. mounts are cheaper than the hardtop mounts. Does anybody know why? My fan is almost hitting the bottom of the shroud and I need new ones. Will the conv. mounts work with my hardtop? And if so are they better than the hardtop mounts? I figured I would get these since there cheaper.

as i recall, the vert mounts are better than the standard (non vert) mounts. they hold up better, are more robust, etc.
