Fan went out, any suggestions?

This past week it was making all sorts of not so nice whining & grinding sounds and now it isnt working at all. I pulled it out real quick and just wonder if I should do anything other than buy a replacement motor. Is there a cheaper or significantly better aftermarket setup? It would be nice to have some cooler temps, but I dont wanna spend a ton of money if it wont be any better than the stock setup.

Also the extra space from a universal fan would be nice, but how hard are they to install?

How does the rest of the fan look? If it is not lookin too hot, I would use something else. Otherwise, perhaps just swap motors or get a J/Y SN fan.

The blades and shroud look fine, it just doesnt spin quietly. I would like to replace the whole assembly just because it would look nicer, but I dont wanna drop $200 on a fan.

your gonna drop over 100$ on the motor prolly...... so if you want to change fans now would be the time, but you are gonna be hard pressed to find one that moves more air for a reasonable price, be cool has one, but it is expensive.....

I'm happy with my Viper Gen II set up. Cost about the same at others and is not only OEM but moves a ton of air with low amp draw. Read all about it

AZ had a replacement motor for $60, so if I cant find something better for the same price I'm gonna try that.

yep the az motor is siemens and the one i took out of my car said siemens/ford.

Now is the time to upgrade. If not for any other reason than to save money in the future, in case one of the fan blades craps out on you, etc. Since you are going to drop $60 now, you might as well put that money down on an aftermarket fan of your choice.

You could probably get away with just swapping motors fine. But it seems as our motors get older, they tend to have a harder time keeping cool. And a good fan will really help in that situation.

mo_dingo I know what you're saying, and usually i would agree with you. However, my car runs nice & cool all the time, except when I'm at the road course. A better fan wouldnt help here, a better radiator is my only real solution to that. I'd rather spend that money on a new rear end cover or trans flush, as they are much more needed than a trick fan setup.
