Fast and Furious wannabes

I am not writing this to bash imports, because I would not mind having an import as a daily driver. What gets under my skin is Fast and Furious wannabes who always want to challenge me. Sure I get a kick out of killing imports (and yes I beat a stock Evo), but I would like to just cruise and enjoy the ride without some ill-informed Stang haters asking to be embarrassed.

It's an interesting point but it has two sides. When I was a young lad with petrol flowing through my veins, I would often throw a rev at an exotic car like a Ferrari, Porsche or so forth but it wasn't to race them, it was to try to goad them into howling away and then I'd try and keep up to enjoy it even more. In one way you should feel flattered. The counterpoint is that you don't bother and some muppet will claim he beat a Mustang but so what....he'll probably get more stick off his friends for claiming it. I recall friends used to say "I beat a Porsche off the lights the other day" and we'd say "Sure and I'll bet he was really trying when it has a 0-60 of around 5 seconds..."

It wouldn't be so bad if they did not mistake the new S197 Mustang for the old SN95 or even the New Edge. It is the Stang haters that annoy me the most, especialy the Supra and Evo fanboys. They have a million and one excuses for why their super import lost to the lowly domestic V8.

I have yet to understand why they hate the Mustangs so much, but making them eat humble pie (especially with thier girlfriends looking) is one of the greatests joys of my daily commute.

Just like the old saying goes.... if they rev at you, or try and race you, just simply tell them that "my lug nuts require more torque that your engine makes".

I have to share this. I go to the store the other night in the Wifes 05 Durango with the Hemi. This stupid thing weighs like 6,000 freaking pounds. With 380 lbs of torque, it will get out of it's own way, but I still wouldn't want to tow with it.

There is a light by me that is three lanes and merges to two about 1/8th mile after the light. I pull into the middle lane and a FF neon SRT pulls on the left, a Subie WRX on the right. I could tell they were gonna go for it, so I thought what the hell. I pulled ahead of the SRT and the Subie got the jump (in the throttle before the light turned) but I started pulling real slowly on him, after a gear change or two, he'd probably take off. I pull up at the next light and they are turning left I am turning right, the Neoen driver gives me a pretty confused look, the subie driver pretends he blew my doors off. I only went up to the speed limit and let off, not going to go 50 in a 35. They kept going. I just think it's funny how my wifes big heavy 4wd SUV is as fast as some of these guys who go around acting like they have the hottest thing on the street. I could also tell the Neon had something done, loud BOV and Louder than the already loud stock exhaust, Mr. Subi had a Carbon hood, that and the stickers must have added at least 100 hp

On another note, I never mentioned anything about the stupid wings n things cars that fly past us all the time while driving with my wife. One day we pull up at a light and a kid in a civic with a huge wing and stickers all over pulls up revving his 1.6 liters of fury, my wive looks right at him, he smiles and she says "your car looks ****ing retarded". God she's awesome.

I have been beaten by evo, wrx, and srt-4. maybe its cuz my car is stock. i have a hard time believing a durango can beat an srt-4 on the freeway there is nothing i can do to keep them from running off and leaving me. i just think there are more important things than being the fastest. like the mustang is one of the best looking cars on the road. id rather drive a slow mustang than a fast neon.

Funny someone mentions a Dodge Neon. So far, nobody with a fast car wants to challenge me to a drag race on the street. However, it seems like young early 20s girls in cars like a Dodge Neon are the only ones who want to get racey with me.

I totally have the same problem! Nice Friday or Saturday nights the camaros don't show their heads and all the imports which litter columbia make quick rights and lefts when I pull up next to them at stop lights. Sometimes I think somebody put a lightbar on top of my car or a big sticker that says cop! jk

But serious races I've had (talked to driver at end of race) I've held up with a new 500 horse BMW tank think M5 musta been about 4200 lbs or so. I was toying with a newer GTO until he got serious and thought he would walk away then I kicked in the 100 shot and passed him. OH and btw streetracing is baaadd

Everytime one of these little cars pull up next to me I always have my kid with me. I really dont think they would pose any problem for me though.

I made a lot of money when fast and the furious came out....I would wait by the movie theater and these kids would come out and for some reason there cars would gain 100 hp after watching that movie.....and I don't race for free....lol....I need to buy more parts for my car....
