Fastback is at the exhaust shop right now..

Don't you just love the anticipation you get when you have to drop your car off for something? Be it paint, repair, etc...?

I bought the '66 Shelby side exit exhaust kit for my '67 fastback and it's being installed right now onto the Tri-Y headers I installed yesterday (and had a hell of a time doing FYI).

The hardest part was not flipping out and damaging a part of my car... lol

On the driver's side I had to disconnect a bunch of hoses that my car has for emissions crap that I plan on removing later anyways. I didn't need to remove my spark plugs, just the wires. Sliding it in from the top was required because it was too tight down below to bring it up. It took a LOT of wiggling and I had to take off my factory air cleaner because I needed that extra clearance. Don't do what I did and run the pipe over the Z-bar for the clutch pedal just because the original exhaust pipe ran that way. I found out the hard and stupid way that the header needs to run down before the steering box and below it and the Z-bar, etc.. I put some gasket sealant around the exhaust port holes on the header and hand tightened the bolts, then torqued them down from the middle to the outside.

Passenger side was SO much easier.... I suggest you start there to be honest. Same install but without all the crap in the way.

On both sides I had to remove the metal cross bars that go from the shock mount to the cowl area.

Both sides had a leak after running the car, but I let the engine cool down overnight, retorqued them to specs and started it up again with no problems... then you can stand there and cry as you watch the pretty black paint start bubbling and peeling off....
