Favorite Paint Color for 70 Mach?

I am getting close to putting the final color paint on my 70 Mach and need some help. The car was red originally. I was going to paint it a red other than original, like Ferrari Red to have more luster. Then I started thinking of what a common color that red has become. The car is a restomod, so I am not worried about originallity. It has black interior. What color would you guys recommend. Any unusual colors at the car shows? I am not a fan of white or yellow. Can you guys help? Pictures are certainly welcome. Thanks.

ive always loved 70 mach1 grabber orange, its not BAD orange, its a nice subtle color.

I know exactly how you feel. I was in a similar predicament when I was looking at painting my Mach... But be careful about trying to pick an "uncommon" color. I too was going to go with something more "timeless" like a medium metalic blue, calypso coral, or black, but then decided I wanted something less common. I thought maybe a nice school bus yellow or maybe Grabber Orange or Grabber Green, until I saw a Boss in my Mach's original color (Bright Gold Metalic). It looked fantastic, it was unique but classic color, so I went with it.

2 years later, Bright gold metalic seems to have become very popular and almost common. I've seen several (10-15) different '70 Bright gold metalic Mach 1s show up in magazines and on various forums and on eBay. Admittedly, its hardly as common as most other colors, but I think its become a poster child for the "classic, timeless, unique" color.

My point? If you choose a color that is tasteful and attractive, eventually it will become popular, which is probably a testament to your good taste and sensibilities. At least thats how I look at it.

BTW, sure, red is pretty common, but I think its a good choice if you pick just the right red. Something with a little orange, maybe even a multi stage with a yellow chrome base.

But The most comments that I heard from people at the Tucson show was,

How much more Eye catching the Red's and Dark Blue's Stood out.
Mine was parked next to A Charcoal and dark brown met. with off orange and black, ginger, white, ect in the field of cars on display.

I LOVE that color. It is the stock color for my car... its a metallic copperish color. Color code Y for 1970. Do NOT be alarmed if the cookie cutter decoders and books dont list it... it was a mid-year addition, and most book writers got lazy and just took the beginning of the year "specs."

Years ago there was a 70 Mach 1 running around south Jersey, which was originally that pale yellow, but was repainted black, and did all the Mach 1 stripes in Gold. Very striking look, subtle, but neat.

I also have a local 70 Mach 1, one of 12 painted by the factory Thunderbird Brown. Very understated, but quite unique.

I'm in the process of painting my 69 Mach, Brandy Wine.Seen it on a custom Harley beautiful. I also seen a car sell on Barretts the other night the same color.
