FedEx brought my intake! Ever seen one of these?

The Roush 3-piece intake. Available on the 94-95 Stage 3 Roush cars, only about 100 (to my knowledge) were built and sold. Roush claimed a 47 hp increase with nothing other than this intake and the "kit" it came with.

Just for scale, that's a 65mm TB sitting next to it (included in the kit).

Crap, look at the lower runners on this thing!

Quotes from the 94-95 Roush sales brochure:

"65mm throttle body, high flow air filter, three-piece Roush dual plenum intake assembly."

"47HP to your stock 5.0"! With GT-40 heads, up to 99HP, and with Roush CNC-ported GT-40 heads, up to a 120HP gain!

Apply whatever reality modifier you want to the numbers. The actual dyno numbers I've seen are DAMN impressive.

The entire kit included:

3 Piece Intake, Lower, Mid and Upper
Gasket set, (intake, EGR, Throttle Body, IAB)
J4J1 EEC-IV Computer
MAF Extension Harness
IAB adapter plate
65mm Throttle Body
24lb Fuel Injectors
Fuel Rails
Passenger side Valve Cover
New Heater Pipe
Underdrive Crank Pulley
Serpentine Belt
Approximately 4ft of hose cut to different lengths (sizes per manual)

MAF to Throttle Body Hose and clamps

I was able to get it complete, minus the crank pulley. The seller also threw in a Kirbin AFPR and FP gauge for the fuel rail. The original kits from Roush also had an option for the cowl hood (which bumped it to $3000 from $2000 ). Unfortunately, it won't fit under the stock hood, so it looks like I'll be getting another one of those before too long. Que the banana -->

I've been looking for one (at a decent price) for a couple years now. I've seen a few on Ebay but they all went for well north of $1000 and I didn't want to pay that. I finally found this one on another forum I frequent.

As soon as I get a chance, I need to have the car dyno'd again (I've added some parts since the last time). Once I do that, I'll install it and re dyno it. But considering how easy it is, I may just do the heads at the same time.

What are you going to do about the air intake?

That Roush kit came with a replacement HOOD!!! The air intake for the system was at the back edge of the replacement hood where it meets the front windshield. That big curved air filter bracket that you show in one of your pictures was a snap fit underneath that area of the new hood, and that was the air intake for the system.

Performance wise, its very interesting but I gotta tell you I hate the look of it. Maybe its just me that is too used to the regular intakes ..

thats pretty odd how the throttle body mounts in the middle facing towards the back.

i remember looking in an old mag. that had a trickflow intake that had two throttle boddies. looked kind of like a 94-95 intake with the elbow but it was on both sides. that think looked like a beast.

that polished would look sweet

What are you going to do about the air intake?

The cowl hood isn't much of a concern when you plan on doing something like this:

However, I'll probably still run this N/A for awhile and if so, I've found that some guys have run the Cobra R hood with slight modification and it worked fine.

Let me see if I can dig up a decent pick of how the induction is supposed to look.

but I gotta tell you I hate the look of it.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion. Personally, I think the thing looks badass just because it isn't at all like any of the Edelbrock, Trickflow, or FRPP intakes you see out there. When you consider the power advantage over them, it's an easy choice for me. Even if I hated the looks though, the power would more than makes up for it.

Coincidently though, a chevy buddy of mine said the same thing. I told him that with as much as his hood is open, he should be concerned about the looks.

I admit that it looks way better in the engine bay, with the air filter and everything. Would look REALLY good chrome.

I paid a little over $900 after shipping. Keep in mind though that it came with a 65mm TB (even if it is an Edelbrock/BBK unit ), 24# injectors, the Cobra computer, and an assload of other little parts. It came in three boxes about 1' x 2' x 3' weighing 33# each. I got it from somebody on another forum I frequent.

Yeppers. A lot of the stuff in this kit will be useless when I finally build the short block and strap on the turbo (24# injectors and a high boost stroker spells B-O-O-M-!) so I figure I'll get at least $300 back from selling off the unused.
