Fellas check this out....almost blew me over

I've been researching the AFM PMS (Programable Mgmt System). It's pricey at $899. But check this out. The local mustang shop here wants to charge me $250 to burn and street dyno (?????) a chip for my car, $75 to weld something to the exhaust to monitor A/F ratio (how I don't know without dyno Nos.) and $499 for a blank chip and muliple tunes - a grand total of $824. What do you guys think? Does this chip sound expensive? I think the AFM PMS is looking good compared to what they want to charge - at least I'd have control and can make changes when I want.

is this local shop reputable??? street dyno chip?????????? so hes gonna sell you a street dyno chip AND a bland chip with multiple tunes? two chips? i would get the pms, dat way you know whats going

Sorry for the confusion - he's not selling me two chips. He wants me to buy a blank chip for $499 that can have multiple tunes and he will charge me $325 labor to burn the chip and weld something into the exhaust to monitor A/F ratio, and street test the chip (?????).

hit up JR he's selling his PMS i believe, and you know with him it's in primo condition

i would go for the tweecer/PMS regardless, then you don't have to deal with other people...

how much is a burn? like if you have to reburn... b/c with the PMS obviously you don't have to reburn

I called a place in Cincinnati Ohio on advice from a buddy of mine and they were talking around $500-$600 total for the chip, labor and parts to install the A/F ratio bung in the exhaust, and dyno time for tuning. Any reburns would be charged at regular labor/dyno time rate of $100/hour. He said reburns typically take less than an hour, but they bill it in 1 hour blocks.

My vote is for the PMS. You dont have to run the 04 version at ~$800. You can get the pre04 model which i got for ~$400 shipped. It has a few less features but none the less gets the job done. I tuned my h/c/i combo in one afternoon and had it driving like stock. Then you can tune WOT on the dyno whenever you want to. Also, down the road you can upgrade to the 04 specs for about ~$250.

Just curious... was it Pauls auto in Cincinnati. Tom my son is general manager and you probably spoke to him?? Very good shop they know there stuff, but expensive

Yep, that's the place. I couldn't remember if it was Tim or Tom... My buddies are planning to chip in and cover some of the cost for me as a wedding gift... Of course I got married a month and a half ago and haven't heard about it since... lol

Where'd you get the pre-04 model from? I checked AFM directly and the only ones I saw were the $899 ones, I guess 04 model.
