I finally picked up some AFR Renegade street heads pn 1472 to replace my cast iron GT 40’s. The irons were lifting under boost i think because they’ve been milled too much. The block was decked .003 last time so we are good there. I already have the ARP head stud kit which I will use again.

Im about to order Felpro 9333 PT1 head gaskets for the project. Any objections on the head gasket choice?

Thanks, John

I would add to the title “with Boost” so folks with that experience will chime in.

That's what I ran when I was turbo'd. Still on there as a matter of fact.

I used them with 15psi of boost with no issues. This was a stock block build and the deck surface was untouched.

I have acquired the upper and lower intake gaskets too

Lower - Felpro 1250 S3

Upper - Felpro MS 95953

I drained the coolant and removed the upper so far. Then it got cold out so my old bones chickened out. I’ll keep you posted when I get back at it.

1011-2 are good also. Either or, I myself ALWAYS used the 1011-2. Ive had audible detination(lean 10lbs boost) and they held. Just brake clean all surfaces, chase those threads, AND retorque.

On the retorque, the 9333 pt1 are perma-torque. That’s what the pt stands for. What’s everyone’s opinion on that. Are they good to go without a retorque?

D1 stock cam 11psi here, 500+ to. No retorque? How about headers intake? The way I see it, its cheap insurance. Plus gives you a chance to "look at things." Mine started as a daily, so I got into retorquing a long time ago 90s. It never hurt any motor Ive worked on, and Ive seen a bolt or 2 back off. Just my

You know they quit making pennies, right? I retorque as well especially on the headers. I check them everytime I am messing with the plugs or plug wires just because of some crappy MAC shorties I had the I could never get to seal up. I have run BBK's for years now and they are good to go but I've heard people that have had issues with them as well.

Anyhow, I run the Felpro 1011-02's as well on both cars (AFR 185's on one and Edelbrock Perform RPM's on the other) and retorqued both per my engine builder.

I also run studs on the intakes (upper to heads & lower to upper) and retorque them a couple of times after heat cycles when installing new.
