Hey Guys,

Just pulled the codes on my 87GT. KOEO test came back clean, but i got a couple codes form the KOER test.

Here are the codes:

94 - Thermactor Air Injection system inoperative (left side).
44 - Thermactor Air Injection system inoperative (right side).
33 - EGR Valve opening not detected.

There isn't any emissions testing around here so I'm not super concerned. Will this have an effect on performance at all? The car is bone stock.

From what i gather the air injector pump pumps fresh air into the exhaust, and the EGR valve allows exhaust gas back into the cylinder head. Doesn't seem like it would cause a problem to me.

One day i wouldn't mind removing the smog stuff, and throwing headers and new exhaust on it.

Any thoughts,
Mike

I have the same codes on my 86. I changed the computer and solnoids. I have traced the wires and everything seems good. I tested the solnoids and they work just fine. I feel this will cause my car to fail So Cal smog. Anyone out there have any ideas?

My '94 GT is suffering from similar symptoms. Codes 314 & 311 (thermactor inoperative on both banks) and Code 332 (insufficient EGR flow). The EGR system is a little easier to test I think because there's less variables to deal with. The only components are the EGR valve itself, the position sensor and the vacuum regulator. These components can be tested without sophisticated equipment. The thermactor system is a little more involved and I still have to diagnose the problem on my car. I just installed a new catted H-pipe and I don't want to ruin the new cats after all that work! I have to check the operation of the solenoids and stuff to try and get a handle on what's going on.
