I bought a 460 to build for a 87 notch (convertible). I have only done 302/351's. Does and one have any advise or places to look for parts for this motor. Im looking to get 500hp plus out of it. I did pick up a set of aluminum heads for it already. I want to do a high compression motor...... I think. Anyone that built one please let me know what you think. Just want to do something different.

Thanks

Yes I know I said convertible. I get that figured I believe.

460 awaps are pretty easy, You'll need a oil pan, headers, motor mounts. Other than the wiring, peice of cake. My new naibor has a 83 hatch with a 460 swap. Bone stock bottom end and block, a set of forged pistons, stock ported heads, intake, cam, and at carb in the 800cfm range i beleave. runs 10.00 easy with a power glide. Goes threw the traps in the 130s raping it to 7,300rpm. Makes about 575hp on 110oct.

He dont have stock rods for twisting it to 7300 rpm. Stock rods that that are not worked will go safely to 6000 rpm. There is a good right up on rods and everything on 460ford.com.
