Few Questions

I have a shift kit in my car with a reverse lock on the shifter. Recently, I have to really jam it into gear because it is never in the right gear. What I mean is, I will go from park to reverse to neutral to overdrive, but half the time I am in the gear before the one I want. So if I want to go in overdrive and I go to drive, it just revs like I am in neutral. Sometimes when I am in reverse with the lock up, it is still in neutral. So basically it is all out of whack and I was wondering if anyone knows how to fix it?

Also, my autometer tach is all jacked up. I cannot set it where I want it. I can set it as high as 10, but I cannot get it to 4500 where I want it. So I can turn it clockwise all I want but not counterclockwise where I want it. Any ideas on that?
