Figure this sound out...

Basically this is when I push the clutch in really fast say when going slow and stopping. Sounds like a cable slapping against the side of something. This is similiar to the sound that is made from the rear end when I turn some times. I was trying to go in a big circle to get it on camera but the camera couldn't pick it up. Anyway, what could be causing this sound from the rear end? It's not this loud from the rear end but it has that and a rubbing sound as well. Ford says nothing is wrong with it.

Any ideas? I have another 9MB video of it if anyone wants to see it. It is from the outside of the car and has the "slapping" sound about 4 times in it.

I just watched and listened to your video - Ford says there is nothing wrong with it??? Were they able to duplicate the sound? Can you take a service tech or the service manager for a spin around the parking lot to demonstrate and get further explaination on what may be the cause of it?

They couldn't duplicate it. I plan to take them for a ride when I get back from military duty along with getting the paint on the bumper fixed that peeled off.

My '01 does that also. Always at low speed,
pushing the clutch in really fast. There was
a thread about this quite some time ago,(maybe a year or so)
I think we pretty much came to the conclusion that it is
a normal sound. (I watched the video, seems to
be the same sound anyway). I can see why Ford
could not duplicate it , because it doesn't happen all
of the time. BTW, mine has been doing that since day
one and I've had no problems up to 46K miles so far.
Maybe annoying sometimes, I can agree with you there.

Yeah, basically that's what it does. The rear end though is making something of a similar sound when turning. Just not the constant "slap, slap" sound. More or less like a rubbing tire and a slight slapping.
