Figured out the Bogging problem!!

So here goes. I changed the ECT, ACT and the O2 sensors, cleaned the MAF and checked every vacuum line. None of those were at fault.

It was the darn injectors. They were all gummed up. I ended up taking it in to performance shop here in Vancouver and they found that all the injectors were fouled. So any of you that are having the bogging issue might try running some good amount of seafoam through your fuel system and that might solve it.

My injectors were fairly dirty when I first got the stang. They're a good thing to check if it's a high mileage car. Glad to hear you got it running good.

The car only has 67000 miles on it so i wouldnt think that would have been the problem. I havent gotten it back yet...i might be picking up a cobra intake , and 24lb injectors and having them installed for 850 bucks with a custom burn chip and a dyno tune. I would be buying the intake separately though. 850 bucks includes new fuel filter, dyno runs, install of cobra manifold and injectors, price of chip and burning of the chip.

Good deal? I dont think thats bad. That might be my early christmas present from myself.

How much do you all think I could pick up in HP over what I have with the Cobra intake, 24lb injectors and the custom chip?

Buy the intake, skip the injectors (don't need them), install it yourself, and skip the chip (also don't need it).

The intake will get you a nice gain. I went from a 14.89@95.27mph to a 14.17@98.99mph with an SVO Cobra ported intake and a 70mm BBK throttle body. It pulled much harder past 3500 rpms. It's a BREEZE to install, even a newbie can do it (not saying you're one, but don't be afraid to try!).

The injectors aren't needed at this point as you're not flowing enough air to warrant the extra fuel.

The chip is also not needed as you'll still be pretty close to stock.

The intake comes with the injectors and railsand everything from a 95 cobra. So I might as well get it while I have the money...that and I plan on doing a s/c later in life so the 24s would be better than 19s. And I figured the chip might get me a few extra ponies for now but then i can just have it re-burnt when i get the supercharger.

And by the way...i havent done anything when it comes to modding cars, so yes I am a newbie.

If the intake comes with the injectors, then go ahead and scoop them up. But I wouldn't put them on, as you're gonna need

A) a new maf (which costs more money, lol)
or
B) a custom chip (which is useless on a nearly stock motor)
or
C) a Cobra PCM designed to run with those 24's (which will cause different issues, and may not be a good idea afterall)

When you supercharge it, I guarantee those tiny little 24's aren't gonna be big enough. They're not even big enough for some heavier breathing N/A combos (which is why I went with 30's on mine). They're ideal for mild h/c/i combos (like the GT40 combos that are quite popular with budget builders), but not much more.

When it comes to the chip, that is a lot of money to spend for "a few extra ponies". It's really not worth it on a nearly stock car (is there an echo in here? ).

And there ain't NOTHING wrong with being a newbie!! We've all been there once, me not so long ago, lol. I remember asking sooooo many questions when I did my intake swap. I was scared to try it, but now I've done so much more to the motor, an intake swap is as easy as changing the oil, lol.

i agree with chris on the injectors. if you are gonna go with a s/c, just wait cuz you'll prolly need 42's. buy the intake and sell the rail and injectors.

i'm sure someone around here has some 19's layin around.

I live in Orchards too. You might have seen my car running around.

S/B??? Sorry I am having a stupid day right now.

The car is with Fast Specialties right now. They told me its gonna cost 530 bucks for them to just replace the injectors with a used set that is nearly new and for the diagnosis. So I will probably just install a new intake (cobra) and see what kind of gains I can get from that.

When the car was stone cold, the car would totally fall flat on its face and didnt want to go anywhere. It was giving me some really nasty lean pop as well. I would have to let the car warm up to operating temperature before even trying to drive it, otherwise it was just too hard to drive it.

GEEZ!! $530?!?! That sounds a little high for an injector swap. See if they'll sell you the injectors (we are talking about stock 19's now right? not those 24's that come with the intake?) and install them yourself with the intake.

$530 is for diagnosis (85 bucks) and injectors (used w/20k miles $112) and the labor. crapola

I might try to make a trade, my 24s for the 19s but we will see. They all recomend the 24s at the shop. We will see though. I wouldnt mind having it tuned either. And I want to know what its putting out as well.

i think my used 24lbers are doing that same thing, i noticed tho if i floor it for 3-4 seconds it goes away... time to replace i guess

Of course they're gonna recommend the 24's, because then they have to tune it, meaning more money. Seriously, those 24's will be a waste on the stock motor. See if you can just pay for the diagnosis, buy the injectors (or trade), and do it yourself. You'll save a lot of money. How are they gonna charge $300+ for changing out injectors? That's ridiculous. That's an hours worth of work, TOPS.

I decided to just do it all myself. Maybe I will be able to work out a trade for those newer 19s. But I have to get the intake first. Time to start bidding!

Does anyone know if we can clean injectors? How so if we can?

Well, you MIGHT be able to do it like you clean carbs, and soak them in some B12.

Otherwise, run some seafoam through the gas tank. It will clean the whole fuel system for ya.

Good for you. It's not difficult just take your time and get a Haynes repair manual and ask us for help.

By the way, I have a 95 Cobra upper/lower intake and 24lb injectors, iron gt40 heads (fully assembled), FMS 65mm TB, stock 70mm & C&L 73mm MAF just sitting here waiting for a new home. PM me if interested.

Another guy I know (used to own a couple 5.0s) said that the B-12 is really good for cleaning out the fuel system, so I think I will try that before I tear into it a whole lot. Hopefully I can salvage these injectors. Maybe then I can sell off the 24s if I get this intake package. I will be sure to let yall know what happens. Thanks guys.
