Finally all painted (finished pics, DUW)

Well, I'll let the pics do the talking this time. All body and paint work was done by me in the garage where it sits. If anyone remembers from a previous post, I also did an HCI and engine bay cleanup this winter too. Tuesday I get it dyno tuned and have lowering springs put on.

The back half of the car was not painted, and the new stripes do not yet match the old. I still need to add a pinstripe around the old stripes. I plan on repainting the rest of it next winter.

Carbed87 - funny you say that b/c I was originally a big stripe (not Strype) hater too. I got a good deal on this car and someone had already painted stripes over the factory single stage red. They were straight and went all the way down the front bumper. After owning the car for a year I realized why I hated them - it was because they never flow with the lines of the hood, and the front bumper has too many horizontal lines in it to make a vertical stripe look good. Hence the reason for the layout I did.

I hope DMAN takes a look at this thread. I had mentioned in his stripe or no stripe thread that I had something for him that would look good. I would love to see this layout on a cowl hood. I, however, did not want to mess with another fiberglass hood and couldn't afford the Harwood.

Thanks for the compliments.

I have to ask.....why didn't you keep the fat stripe width that the hood has all the way back down the rest of the car? Looks to me like the stripes on the roof are thinner?

A little trivia that some might not know....the original Shelby stripes weren't the same width throughout the car either....they followed the width of the car....thinner on the ends and wider in the middle.

Man, you did a killer job... and what pisses me off, is that im from Akron, Ohio but i live in louisiana now... My uncle paints, you painted yours... im in the wrong damn city when im needing to pay someone to paint my heap..

By the way, do you ever go to Winks?

85_SS - When I bought the car, it had the stripes you see on the roof going all the way from bottom of front bumper to bottom of back bumper. I didn't think they looked good b/c they didn't follow the body lines of the car. During my engine bay project, I decided to paint the entire front clip, and decided to change up the stripes. Now that it's driving season in Ohio, I'm running it like this for the summer. Next winter I will repaint the rest of the car (doors, roof, rear quarters, and rear bumper). I'll match the stripes that I put on the hood at that point.

Metalcop - I used a rear facing scoop off an early 80's Mustang GT (about 50 bucks off ebay). I'll upload a pic of the underside once I'm home tonight. I did cut a hole in the hood to make the scoop functional.

You may not have seen my post, but do you ever go to Winks?

FarBeyondDriven - I don't even know what Winks is. If I'll like it, inform me! For reference, I went to the U of Akron for engineering and I now live in North Canton (I need to update the location in my cp).

Metalcop - here's the only pic I have of the hood underside:
