I finally got this thing running. 1970 mach 1 that weighs 3320 w/me. 408/vic jr heads, 10.5 compression, custom Ed hyd roller cam, rpm intake, 750 proformed body carb, and 1 5/8 headers. Made 519 fwhp at 5800 and 534 ft/lbs at 4500. Had 500 or better on the torque from 4000 to 5400. Had 500 or better on the hp from 5200 to 6300 when we quit the pulls. Gonna try to get her on the road tonight!! Any guesses on what this things gonna run with a c-4 with 3000 converter and 4.11 gear?? Can't wait!! :D :D

I think it will run super fast!
(to the tranny shop!)
:rlaugh:

J/K!
Those are great numbers! Congrats.
You just know I gotta nit-pik though...
I think you have too much gear.
You made your power at a relatively low rpm, face it, 5800 is not all that high. Probably best running a stroker, but I think you could get away with quite a bit less gear. You will still be astounded with a 3.50-3.70 having that much torque. You will also get better traction and economy, not to mention your C4 will last longer IMO.
I was going to say that you could run a single plane and push the power up even higher from 4000-up, but being a stroker is not the optimum platform for high rpm durability/power, I think you have done very well and just need to save some tire tread and fuel with a little less gear.
Good luck!

Rochester eh?
I recently left Dodge Center. Lived there 4 years.
I would like to say I wished I was there to see this monster, but I am a southern boy and glad to be back. There is something seriously broken in the sky when it snows 3" on Oct. 1!

Rochester is the deep south, dude!

And it rarely snows before mid November. .. but you never know!

Sounds like a great car, jasonn! Mebbe I'll get to see your tail lights some day. :D

Thanks guys. Drove it for the first time last night. Wow. 1st gear is pretty much useless. Like driving on ice. Man does this thing pull hard! Not that my old motor was slow or anything (ran 12.58@107) but this thing you have to shift really fast. Not used to it. Sure is fun though!! :D Yea I pretty much know its going to take the tranny out. Just a matter of time. Maybe even first hard pass. I think I might drive it for a while right now before racing it. I agree the 4.11's are a little much, but it's the gears I have in it right now. we'll have to see.

I moved to DC in 99, straight from a life in the south...
That year set several snow records, but I didn't know that. I thought that was normal...
Imagine going to a new place and getting 3" of snow on Oct. 1!
Then December ended with around 40" total snow. My first winter up north.
For you folks that don't know, it doesn't just snow there and melt in a few days, leaving fresh ground for the next snow... Nooooooooo, the stuff falls, sits, and waits for the next snow to fall on top of it. Then waits for more to build on that. Down south sunglasses are manditory in summer, up there, in winter.
Sorry for the hijack, just relating the horrors. ;)

I really do miss the CC show though. I went in 01 or 02, whatever year it rained so bad you could hardly drive in it.
Took my Z and it ended up in several mags!
(in the backround of several pics... )

I'm glad you brought up the Car Craft Nationals. I've never been to them, but now I have to go! :D

I don't know whether I'll pay to get my junker in there, but I'll definately have to get in and I'll be looking for you, jasonn.

Should be hella fun cruising those nights!! :nice:
