Finally got it running, but won't run under load..

This ordeal is really starting to kick my butt. The car looks good, but it won't run!

After fighting with it yesterday, I found the ground wire I missed (I'm an idiot). Now, it starts up no problem, idles good, and revs up nice (without the throttle hanging) while in neutral. However, when I try to drive it, it misses REALLY bad - I have to keep clutching it to take load off for fear of really doing some damage.

I still get no codes. Please help!

sounds either like a mass air problem or a map sensor problem. unplug the mass air meter and see how it runs. also check to make sure the map sensor is hooked up and getting a good vacuum signal.

first check for vacuum leaks at the upper/lower intake, vacuum tree and vacuum ports on the underside of the intake

Thanks for the reply - the vacuum tree is gone. I have a direct line to the booster (no a/c, no cruise). There doesn't seem to be any vac leaks - it idles great.

Question on the MAP sensor: Since this is a MAF car, would it be the BAP sensor? I assume this is the one with the sheet metal bracket that bolts to the firewall above the pinch weld? If so, does it get a ground through the mounting bracket? Right now it is dangling in my engine bay because I haven't relocated it since hiding wires.

If the ground does not matter, how do I check the sensor? Thanks!

map and bap sensors are the exact same part, the only difference is whether the port is attached to vacuum line or left open to atmosphere.

bap sensor being open to the atmosphere and not to a vacuume.

have to pulled any codes ?
