There is nothing worst than being swomped with work while you have your new toy waiting for you...

Took delivery of my '05 GT, Silver with Bullit mags, IUP and red leather (or what it is supposed to be!), Shaker 1000 (I can confirm now that I definitely did not need that!), M5, active alarm system, on Thursday May 24th. Since then, I had to write two RFPs of 600 pages each, so you can imagine I spent no time in my new car, and no time to write...

Thanks to this forum, I was aware of things to check. I can unfortunately confirm the CD player issue (it "rewinds" itself of at leat 20 secs once in awhile), the poping of the front suspension, but so far, no gas tank issue. BTW, is this issue only in California or in some of the states where the environmental laws require some special nozzle at gas stations? Anyway, I don't have the problem, so I'm happy with it...

I thought about upgrading tires and wheels, but I'm happy with the original rubber so far.

Gaz mileage is terrible when you flog it (on my first week, i averaged 275 km per tank!), but it's decent on the highway when I'm reasonable. So far I only have a 1000 km (or approx 600 miles on it!), so I gather it might improve when I get a bit more mileage.

I followed most everyone's break-in rule - I drove it as if I just stole it! I'm on a 3-yr lease (a good excuse to pull a new car on the missus without a fight, plus taxe purposes), so beware of a low mileage Silver GT in for sales in an auction in Montreal in June '08!!!!!

I'm quite surprised on how nice the ride is stock. Even pothole filled Montreal is not so harsh on my teeth fillings and my back! So, we're planning a family vacation (with wife and 11 yr old daughter) to N.C. From Montreal, that will be about 1,000 miles, with a stop in Washington to visit the Smithsonians and if we can, the other landmarks such as the Capitole and the Vietnam memorial etc.

Now, can anyone confirm that I could remove that darn Shaker unit in the trunk, and that just turning it off from the radio side will do the trick? I'll need the trunk space for our vacation!
