I am probably the last one here to mod my 2001GT 5 speed, and I know there's been a lot of posts about it, but I haven't been able to find them in my searches.

I know Steeda Underdrive Pullies are a must, but what else should I add to my shopping cart in order to get a "little" more out of the engine?

Get an off road x pipe and some mufflers first. Then I would got with some 4.10s and tires. Next for great power get you a plenum and 75mm t body. You need to decide how much you want to spend so you can determine how far you are willing to go.

Save your money from the small mods and buy a supercharger! You will be much happier!

I agree. I went the other way, however. See the mods below. As a result, I spent $2100 in parts and another $1000 in labor. For my $3100, I gained 42 rwhp. For about $4000, I could have purchased a supercharger and gained 100-120 rwhp. Do the math. It's a no-brainer.

If you haven't done anything yet, start with a shifter, like a Tri-Ax.

Best first mod!

Then, do the other stuff in any order you like. Or, get a loan for a blower and pay it off $50 a month instead of spending $50 a month on mods.

Definately do the shifter and exhaust mods first. Than, save your money for S/C if you want some real HP. Or, if you just want a little more than stock and have no plan on Boost'n, do the usual bolt ons as stated above.

get a loan for a blower?

imo if you dont have the money to pay for it up front you cant afford it. its a luxury not a necessity.

well for me i am in the same situation, although I am 16, so my idea is too spend the money on mods and slowly increase the power because I dont have that great of experience driving. And once I have the engine built up to hold 15+ boost im going to slap on a supercharger but this wont be for a couple years being as im only a junior in high school

I wasn't really serious, just wanted to make a point about dropping a few bucks each month either way.

Thanks for the replies.

The shifter, exhaust and plenum & 75mm tb sounds like a good idea. I am a bit worried about adding a supercharger, as I am going to bring the car to Denmark in a couple of years where gas prices are ridiculous. I am thinking more in the lines of a turbo instead if I'd go that route.

My goal eventually is to have between 300 to 350 hp - again depending on the cost I'd either hit the low or high number, and at the same time I know a K&N air filter is not going to get me there by itself. A turbo is just out of my budget range (I am thinking $2000 maximum at the moment). Is there anyway I can hit those hp numbers without s/c or turbo?

First thing i would do would get 4.10 gears. You will **** your pants...everything gets better after that. Then exhaust and then the pullys. Thats how i would start. Good luck! (dont forget DRs).
