I remember doing 2 things that are probably covered in the video. I shut the EGR off with a boolean (0 or 1) scalar. And... I took this note in my own black jack thread. Not sure if it will help:

"- Was able to find the "EVP" which is the EGR Voltage. I connected it to my wideband analog output from the Innovate MTX-L. So, now I can see & datalog my AFR within Binary Editor, which is going to be awesome for tuning"

I also remember scaling it somehow to convert voltage to AFR.

I’ve got the scaling equation ready. For PLX its voltage x 2+10. In the picture you see the thin green wire that id the analog from the PLX. I’ve got it connected to the pin 27 location on the EGR plug. In the picture I’m back stabbing the harness plug to verify the voltage making through my connections. 2.33v x 2 is 4.66. 4.66 + 10 =14.66. My wideband reads 14.5 at this idle status so close enough for me. Just can’t figure out how to get it displayed on the data log

I’ve got the EGR system disabled. That was literally the first thing I did as far as modifying the stock bin.

My guess is that you're just not datalogging EVP. In BE, you have to tell it what to log. I'm sorry my memory is a little wonky. Been a long time since I've set it up. But isn't there some way to tell it what to include on your dashboard? You should add EVP and view it in real time. I think the scaling thing is in the video, too. But you dont have to scale it right... and you don't have to datalog... just need to get the raw 5V signal going in the live dashboard, and then worry about the rest, later.

Edit: Correction. You do have to datalog it, and while datalogging it can also be included in the live dashboard.

I know it’s gotta be something simple. I bet I feel like a dope when I eventually stumble upon it

Chat GPT says:

In Binary Editor, you should be able to display the EGR Valve Position (EVP) signal from pin 27 on the A9L directly in the live dashboard.

1. Open Binary Editor with your GUFB strategy and A9L calibration loaded.
2. Go to the Datalog tab and find EVP in the list of available parameters. Check it to include it in the datalogging payload.
3. Open the Dashboard and right-click an empty area. Uncheck "Lock Dashboard" if necessary.
4. Right-click again and select Add → Digital Gauge.
5. Double-click the new gauge to configure it.
6. Set the TAG to EVP, name it EVP Voltage, and select two decimal places.
7. Save the dashboard layout and start live monitoring with the QuarterHorse connected.

Pin 27 is the factory EGR position sensor input, which accepts a 0–5V analog signal. If you're using that input for something else, such as a wideband or pressure sensor, you can monitor the raw EVP voltage and potentially configure a calculated parameter to display the actual AFR or pressure.

The important part is making sure EVP is enabled in the datalogging payload. Simply adding a gauge to the dashboard won't work unless Binary Editor is actually logging that parameter.

But you’re absolutely right Fast Driver. I’m failing to tell BE where to find the signal.

You’re correct. I have not yet tried logging EVP. That’s what I’ll try tomorrow. I’ve got it setup right in UDT but I was looking for an AFR tag to log. The UDT transfers the EVP position to display AFR but in order to see the actual AFR readings I need to select the EVP tag. Hot damn!!!

Did two data log pulls for air load scaling na. One 3rd gear one 4th gear, each roughly from 2k to 6k. Very smooth and powerful acceleration. I see the saved logs in the folder on laptop but I m having trouble figuring out how to play them back so I can look for areas to tweak. More if my numbskull stuff

Ok figured it out. Almost 92% efficiency at 4681rpm! Nice flat line that stays high throughout the pull. This is the 4 gear pull. I’m not sure if anything even needs changing.

I’ll fine tune it after all because these VE numbers are very different than in the stock A9L bin

Why not include the AFR?

I’m just not at that stage yet. Considering this was my first log in order to possibly adjust something specific, I thought it best to only log whats needed for the task at hand. Anyway, my WOT AFR is running mid 12’s

Well, it's a good start, and I'd say your load is pretty nicely flat through the range.

Here’s the adjusted numbers I put into Air Load Scaling. I’ll do another data log pull and look at the graph but I think I did this correctly.

Took another test drive just to make sure the air load scaling changes didn’t mess with anything. Feels great! No data log on this drive because too much traffic to deal with. I’ll do a couple logs tomorrow afternoon for giggles and I think I’m done with NA tuning. I’ll practice loading this bin on the J3v2 chip before putting QH back in and adjusting fuel and spark for boost.

I can’t say enough positive stuff about these videos at Leech Motorsports YouTube. Great stuff and Matt Harrison is a very good teacher for sure. Thank you Matt, sincerely!

Looks fine to me, for a start. As long as you can get to all your load values throughout the other tables, and it's basically flat throughout the range, you're in a good starting place.
