Finished install of PI intake

The 268H cams are good blower cams. A buddy I know had these cams with a Vortech SQ trim blower made mad power above 3000rpm. Actually because of him is why I got these cams.

I ended up getting the plates from Livernois Motorsports. I did not want to but nobody else offers the adapters. So I bit the bullit and bought it. It did cost too much I think, but what can you do.

Do not know how much the labor would be but I would quess around $400-$700. To be honest with thou it is easy mod to do yourself (extra pair of hands is best) definetly with the Anderson Cam Tool. Thanks for the compliment.

What would be a good replacement for a 2001 BULLITT mustangg as far as a new cam goes? And will i need new valve springs to go with them?

Hey man! You shoulda let me know you were doing the intake. I love my comp cams and when using them as a blower cam I was making AWSOME power above 3000rpms. I took off the blower though now kev you oughta ride in her now. I put some bolt ons and a healthy dose of the bottle, she feels MUCH faster. I will give ya a call next weekend I have off cause I wanna go out to the lakefront. I just put a 95 cobra bumper on the car and new nitto drags. The car is comming together nicely. I like the adapters though, that might be a thing to do when I blow this intake up.

STOCK replacement? or added power N/A? best for a blower? cam decision needs to be thought out with final setup\goal in mind

I have an 03 GT and I am curious in getting cams for my stang. By next year I plan on going with the s-trim style for a supercharge. What year was your freinds stang that he did this to just curious.

Looks great! I replaced my intake a year ago because it was cracked and felt that the install wasn't bad at all. So next spring I'll be putting in a P.I. intake. But now because of what you said I'll be seriously considering the cams too. It would be nice if someone would do a write up with pictures (or without) on how to swap out the cams. Hint... Hint....

Couple questions for you... when you swapped out the coolant tube, was it hard to remove/attach it at the firewall? What was involved?

And you mention having to remove your water pump because of the coolant nipple... was that because you swapped out the coolant tube?

When I did the swap, I had no problems with bolting the coolant tube to the back of the engine near the firewall. Just have to find the right angle for you to get at it.

I also removed my waterpump because I was told the nipple that connects the waterpump to the coolant tube on my '98 it was larger than was neeed for install. Came to find out later (after I took it out - and that was difficult), that the '98s come with the correct nipple - atleast mine and some others did. It was easy to remove the waterpump though.

Did you have to get on top of the engine to get back there? I'm not a small guy so I dread having to do that.

And it looks like you can buy the cams directly from Comp Cams (click here).

I don't know anything about the "Anderson tool" they were talking about but maybe Comp Cams sells that too.

correct, the coolant tube was a breeze because the 98 has the correct nipple already.

It's nice to see people pimp a companies product and all, but 600 bucks for a PI intake swap Compared to the way I did it for under $170, no comparison.

For 600 bucks you might as well do a headswap.

It is up to you to decide on what type of cam you want. N/A or Blower? For a PI motor I would go with the VT stage 1 or 2. Heard nothing but good things about them. Modular Depot and T&J Performance carry them. I would also do the springs along with it. These have more lift for the PI heads.

Got the kit from Livernois Motorsports. They are the only people that carry it (besides Detroit Speed? who develops it)

The cams came from Summit. But you can pretty much find anywhere. I bought the cam tool from a buddy of mine (Drew 1287) and he helped out installing them. Modular Depot has alot of information on these issues.

Very simple to install. Just tight. It is correct the 98 Mustangs have the right size nipple compared to the older Mustangs. I just replaced since the kit came with a new one. You have to remove the water pump to get the nipple off thats it. Took just a couple of minutes. Anyway thanks for the compliments.
