haha...meaning, where do I start on the cap? and how is the numbering on the block?

OH, so sorry. The #1 is sometimes numbered on the cap. The rotor rotates counter-clockwise. The right ( passenger side) cylinders are numbered 1-2-3-4 starting with the front cylinder. The left ( driver) side is 5-6-7-8 front to back

If the cap isn't numbered, the #1 terminal should be at the 1 o'clock postion facing the engine, looking toward the rear of the vehicle

I plugged all the wires in correctly but my car still runs like crap. At idle, it sounds fine, but when I step on the gas, it feels like I'm pulling a house. There is no acceleration.

Sounds like the timing's retarded. Check the timing, it needs to be at around 8-12 degrees before top dead center ( TDC on the balancer) The timing pointer is on the timing cover, either on the left or right, oposite side from the water pump inlet. The balancer marks are on the thick side of the balancer, you'll probably need to take a wire brush and clean the rust/paint/dirt off the balancer to find them
