I was looking online at firing orders and noticed that the 4.6 Firing order was the same as the 5.0. Has anyone ever used the newer computers on a pre 96 SBF motor? I would think it could work as long as you could figure out how to make the crank sensor work on a distributor-less MSD unit with individual coil packs.

Anyone tried this or done it???

It's going around your ******* to get to your elbow. I'm sure anything is possible, but I don't see the point. If you really want solid state ignition, there are much cheaper ways to do it. The cheapest way to do it would be to use a late model Ford Explorer computer and harness. Some of the later Explorers, somewhere around 98' models used a solid state ignition using a cam position sensor that mounted into the distributer hole of the 302. That would be the way to go if you wanted a distributerless ignition.

Yeah but certain cars like the Lincoln Mark 8 i believe had a dedicated coil for every Cyl. Just thinking out loud here. I always like to try something different. but ill research the explorer distributor. Only difference is im using a 351 distributor.

The Explorer/Mountaineer EDIS system is probably the best way to go about doing it, but you'll run into the problem of trying to adapt it to the 351W based engine. Without it, you have nothing to drive the oil pump.

Well i have examined both 302 & 351 shafts next to each other. Both the same height...Only difference is the shaft on the 351 is thicker. I think i could make just a shaft for engaging the cam and spinning the oil pump. Seems the explorer crank position sensor is on the Balancer.

IIRC Sorscode has done an EEC-V swap into an EEC-IV V8 SN95. And even if not, he should have some insight.
