Neither of those would be my first mod but if I had to choose between the two, I'd go with the shifter. You'll get more "smile per mile" with the shifter mod.

But... I missed a quick shift today trying to get around a car, it pissed me off. So now im leaning towards the MGW shifter.

I dunno though... The reason I wanna get the TB/plenum is cause its still cheap, and that will take care of the intake side of the engine... then I can move on to another part.

You should get the shifter since it will be more noticeable and because it pissed you off. The PP is cheap, and in my opinion so is the quality. Hey, now I'm not saying go spend another $200+ for the acufab set because it will only net you maybe a few more ponies. I personally don't like cheapo stuff and Professional Products to me looks like cheapo stuff. Do whatever makes you happy.

MGW website is the only place I know of to buy them. I'd say you'll enjoy the shifter more than the tb/plenum.

Well ill probaly go shifter then. They are re-opening a 100% redone 1/4 mile track locally, all new surface, timing equipment and so on... I want to run as soon as I can. If I cant nail shifts then I cant get a good time... or id just look like an ass grinding gears, haha.

Called MGW, no go... they are out of handles so it would be a week before they could ship.

I went with the UPR Blu Thunder. I havnt seen one complain about it, although less people have used it. I talked to one of their guys and he said it was a killer shifter, and he likes the way it shifts better than the Triax does. It was a little cheaper also, but nothing huge.

Blu-thunder = killer buy! I love mine, not one complaint...except for the handle bolts loosening once while driving causing me to not be able to move the shifter....lucky for me, I coasted into a hardware store parking lot (was so freakin weird lol!) and bought a lil wrench to fix it, and some thread locker to keep it safe heh.

Awesome... glad to hear its a good shifter (again, lol). The guy at UPR was very confident in their shifter, thats partly what sold me on it.

Ill make sure the bolts wont go anywhere when im installing though, haha. Thats pretty ironic you coasted into a hardware store.

First Mod

BurningRubber said:
Yup the TB and plenum are polished. Doesnt matter if its made in China to me, haha... just means its a little cheaper to get ahold of.

As far as gears, I would like to get 4.10's, but I do alot of highway driving...

As far as not noticing any gains, I found a few threads where people did say that they noticed some top end improvment with the plenum and TB... I dont see how it wont make a difference though. Im not expecting a miracle difference, but with the intake and exhaust it should compliment both. But you gotta start somewhere with the bolt on power adders right?

With all the mods that I have I am still getting 20-21 mpg not on the freeway.

Ive been able to knock down 23 so far... mixed city/highway. Only thing that looks like it wouldnt help with your MPG is gears... but 21 isnt bad. Better than what im used to, haha.

Not to steal the thread but I did my gears first. When that was my only mod I got 24 a couple of times. But another factor to that is I live in mountainous area so instead of downshifting I can stay in 5th now.
