First time at the track!!

Went to the drags lastnight tell me what you think.

First run:
R/T .279
60ft 2.472
1/4 15.584
mph 91.63

Then my elimination run
(lost the slip so this is what I rember)
Dial in 15.7
R/T .555
1/4 15.527

I thought that elimination was run faster but as close to the dial in but not slower when it is infact the opposite... I knew my 15.7 was way too slow so the second run I let off the gas at the end. So concidering a better R/T and going all out I could have done a lot better. (or have dialed in a 15.5, only 2 hundo off!)
Id like to break into the 14's befor I put my cleveland in, any sugguestions? Id like to fab up some mustang steve's shelby traction bars, maby some sub frames too who knows.

I have a 68 fastback with a 289 200 rwhp 240 ft/lb, c4 tranny with a shift kit and an 8 inch rear with 3.02 or 2.7's something like that.

Reaction time will have no affect on your quarter mile times. Where reaction times help is in the elimination rounds. Those are very consistent times.
Gears will get you in the 14's quickly. You have a c4 like me and I am going to 3.55's. It should be a great all around ratio with the c4.

it all plays in....you could run closer to ur dial in then an opponent and still lose if he/she has a better r/t. I think its tenths for tenths and that kinda thing. Like if you ran 15.62 on a 15.6 dial with a .600 r/t and an opponent ran a 17.8 on a 17.7 dial with a .500 light I believe u would lose.

no. the clock starts when you move, not when the green bulb lights. after the green you can sit there all day and then go. your et would be the same, but your rt would be horrible.

Nope.
Don't wait to leave on the green. Leave on the last yellow. If you see green, you're late. You're ET can be affected by how you stage. If you stage shallow (barely turning on second lite) you'll have a quicker ET. If you stage deep (turn out the top stage lite) you'll have a slower ET. Reaction time is determined by the time it takes the car to move out of the beams after the green lite.

Think the shelby traction bars would help? Maybe I could launch harder with out spinning the tires.
