First Time At Track..Ever! Timeslip Analysis! Experts Come In!

Hey guys, dragged today for the first time in my life. The track was an 1/8th mile track a few minutes from my house. The 1/4 mile is over an hour away.

Anyway, here's my timeslip. The car is bone stock except for the motor, gears and drag radials.

Is this good for a first time, also with the following mods what kind of time increases, if any, can I expect?

What kind of 1/4 times am I looking at? Thanks.

BBK Subframe Connectors

Not bad for your first time out. How is your a/f ratio? I looked at your dyno graph and you should be shifting that thing about 6200.

Its "bone stock" except for a 331 stroker huh

I'm shifting at about 6800 so I'm back in the power.

You are shifting WAY too high!! You are NOT making power that high. 6200 is about where you NEED to shift. You WILL run faster shifting lower. You wanna spin that high you NEED WAY more head, cam and manifold.

Nice numbers! Those 1/8th mile times will equate to 12.70's-12.80's in the quarter mile at around 107-110 mph. Cool! Get your 60' times a little lower and you'll be looking at low 12's.

Also, what are you crossing the traps at shifting at 6800? Your gonna want to cross around 6k

Is that 6800 on the stock tach? I thought the rev limiter was below that

Yes...stock tach. Rev limiter is set at 7000 RPM's via MSD.

Thanks for the input guys...I was hoping for 12.3's, maybe with the suspension and some more practice launching I'll get there.

If you were at 6800 on the stock tach, you were at around 5800-6000 rpms in real life. Stock tach IS not correct when winding the motor up. Cruising speeds and slow acceleration it is though. I know this because I still have my stocker hooked up along with my autometer tach.

Looks pretty good man. You also might wanna try short shifting it a lil bit(ofcoarse if your tach is correct) to try to drop back into your torque curve. 6800 is def high.

Put in an aftermarket one Best way to describe it is to say the stock tach has a whip to it. I never noticed it until I had my autometer, shift light set at 5500rpms, stock tach would be at 6400-6500rpms when the shift light would come on on the autometer.
