First time at track tonite, any tips?????

Don't worry about your times. Have fun. Be sure to keep your eye on the other guy after you cross the finish line (in front of him!). Oh yeah don't worry about doing a monster burnout either. Just spin them a few seconds and get to the light/line. Good luck!

If your on street tires dont launch hard.. launch easy and if you get wheel spin try to feather it out. Main thing is to enjoy your first time at the track and use it as a learning experience. Keep your your shifts quick enough to not lose time but not so hard that you blow the tires off hitting 2nd gear. Ive cut 1.90s on a normal radial just by finding that small area between a bog and wheel spin when launching.. come back and give us your #s and then we can give you some tips and estimate what your car could run on good tires by looking at your mph. GOOD LUCK MAN!!! :nice:

Just noticed your car is a converable and an automatic... just put it the floor as hard as you can lol. I had a fairly stock auto and at the track I could launch it fairly hard with out blowing the tires off. Like mentioned above drive around the water box and do a small burn out just enough to clean off the tires.

A stock AOD? I would suggest leaving on the last yellow light. I would suggest bypassing the water in the burn out box.......definitley....LOL. I would try both ways letting it shift it self and then with you shifting it manually. if I can recall correctly you should be able to bring it up to about 1200-1500 rpms in gear before the tires start to spin, keep it there and then when the yellow lights start lighting up, drop the hammer on the last yellow. Another option is to just hold the brake and then nail it from an idle........best of luck and like everybody else says have a good time and stay safe.
