I went to the Gateway Raceway tonight for the first time with this car.On the stock 20,000 mile goodyears.
I wanted to be in the 13s with my mods in my sig. Unfortuneatly my best time was..
R/T--- .372
60 ---- 2.100
330-----5.954
1/8 ---- 9.091
1/8 MPH ---78.36
1000 ----- 11.778
1/4 ------14.038
MPH ----- 99.66

I launched at 2K rpms, and shifted at 5. It spun alot in first then spun in 2nd and chirped 3rd. and i finished at redline in 4th.
the time above was on my second run of 4.
the other 3 were 14.2(shifted at 5300), 14.3(shifted at 5500), and 14.6(i missed 3rd.)

Well i guess overall i just need traction, What should i get first?? UCA? LCA? or new tires?

new tires. What were your methods in launching? did you dump the clutch from 2k or did you slip it? Slipping is the right method and power shifting is a good idea. bring those 60's down to 1.9's

on the 14.0 run i slipped it, the 0thers i dumped the clutch and it bogged down pretty bad. I did not powershift at all, i need alittle more practice before i start the powershifting
DO the uca and lca's help out alot?
I wanna get my new tires on my new wheels so i may hold off till the end of the summer on the tires.

Powershifting is sooo bad....but sooo good at the same time. That's how I got my best time, powershifting. Practice.....that's really the trick. You gotta learn your car, what to launch at, when to shift..... Good luck!

Was my trap speed of 99.66 good enough to be in the 13s? or do i need to get in the low 100s for 13s?

wrd.. you'll get there. try deflating the tires to 24-26psi in the rear and 36+psi in the front.

2. remove passenger headlight
3. remove spoiler
4. remove front sway bar
5. remove sparetire/jack

Yah, I ran with spare tire and jack, the stock plenum ans throttle body and stock shifter in the trunk. Plus the tires were at 28psi in the rear and 30 in the front.

I'll do better.

1. Gateway gets ****ty traction. Make the trip up to Joliet.
2. 99.66 is easily good enough for high 13s
3. NEVER run at the track with weight that is not needed, such as spare tire and parts in trunk. If you didnt have that in there you would have had a 13.9
4. Get drag radials.

:nice: Get some tires for traction...if you really want to help your 60 foots, try some 4 cylinder springs in place of the stock fronts and remove the sway bar.
Also since your near St. Louis, might want to check out Stlmustangs.com

A little rediculous don't you think? Why would you go through all of that to get into the 13's?

I learned that by reaving her up to 4k or higher rpm and slipping the clutch I could pull 1.9-2.0x 60's with all weather michelin pilots with the only suspension mods being frpp c-springs.

I'd shift around 5300-5400rpm since our cars stock stop making power just over the 5k mark. Sounds like you just need more practice this year I pulled off a 13.8 @ 97mph and a 13.98 @ 103mph with just exhuast and springs. Definetly ditch the spare and jack and make sure to run with less than 1/2 tank 1/4 if you can get to a gas station right after you leave the track.

You did good just practice practice practice :nice: You've got a high 13 car there and your not far off from achieving it.
