I have always been intrigued with the idea of a flamethrower. However I have never been very satisfied with the traditional method. It seems counter productive to interrupt your ignition to get enough fuel down the pipes to produce a flame and if your are dealing with a 4.6L it is even harder to get enough un-burnt fuel to the pipes not to mention a high probability of causing muffler damage or worse.
I have been banging around the idea of taking the fuel to the end of the exhaust pipe independently of the motor and exhaust system. Possible a separate pump and or separate tank just for that purpose. Mounting a nozzle very near the end of the exhaust pipe with some kind of igniter. Since I really dislike reinventing the wheel I was hoping someone out there had done this.

I'm sorry but this is just..... stupid. You want a good reason why its dumb ? Here is one. If you have a standard rear exit exhaust you are going to screw up the paint on the rear bumper. Thats just an asthetic reason why it is stupid. There are other reasons too.... like safety. You are creating flames near your gas tank. Darwin award waiting to happen. I had a friend get his gas tank punctured and he lost all of his fuel out the bottem of his tank. That happens to you and your flames are going off.... well I'll let you figure it out.

Do it!! You'll be uber cool like this guy!

I once had a video of my car popping a flame out of both tailpipes at the track :nonono: I "missed" a gear in my automatic and once it bounced the rev limiter it resulted in a small burst of flame :rlaugh: :(

Heck if your giong to do that why don't you go all the way and make a jet car like Les Shockley jet truck. That would be cool to see a jet powered mustang at an arishow or track that could do 0-370mph in only 7 seconds.

That would awesome, but I would have one hell of a time controlling that much power.

heres a vid of 4.6 with a thrower

if you do a search you should find what your looking for, this idea poped in my head a while back. But after reading what you have to modify to make it work. I decided it wasnt worth the trouble or the ticket.

I actually thought about it about 2 years ago since it'd be sick with side pipes. But it's too sketchy and illegal so i didn't

if i were going to put some kinda flame kit on my car i would set up some sort of jet that would spray fuel into the exhaust after the mufflers and put something in the pipe to ignite it, i think that would be much safer. u could easily use a nitrous nozzle with a seperate fuel tank/line then all u would need is a spark. that might be a little difficult to come by but im sure they make something simple for it.
