Floor Jacks .......

What type of floor jack do you use? I need to buy one because I'm going to be moving into my first house soon and do not have one. The one my stepdad has is a piece of crap ...

What are some good ones for relatively inexpensive?

I went the cheap route and got an ac delco floor jack from Oreileys
on sale for $22.00. Been OK for over a year. As long as I can jack it up enough to get the jack stands in place I can live with it. Its doesnt take
up much space either.

Sluminum racing jack. Great for me, because its lower then others. But i hate its weight capasity of 1.5 ton

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that I have a truck (2000 Mazda B4000 4WD) so I will have to be able to get those tires off the ground too.

And also where you bought em' would be helpful.

I have a 20$ Larin floor jack that I bought from Advance Auto. It fits under a stock-height GT Stang. It has a 2 ton capacity so it should jack up a pickup truck without problems.

I'm thinkin' I might need two. My truck is pretty high off the ground and my car is pretty low to the ground. I don't know if there is a jack that is low and capable of jacking like 20-25 inches up ...

if its high off of ground, you might need to get those heavy duty one for shop that have something like 5 ton capacity. mine only go up to 18" off of ground, and i think thats about normal for most home mechanic floor jack

Craftsman aluminum. They're expensive but warrantied for life at any sears store... We've taken 2 back. We use them constantly though on the race car. We torture our equipment

That ^^ is freaking nice! Really low! Your jack is nice as well. I like that it is like 33lbs (or so). It is definitely an option.

The 30" one would be perfect for my truck. It would put that thing in the air easily! But then again, I've been thinking that if I get one that will lift from 18-22in. I could try to use a 4x4 or a 6x6 piece of wood for the truck and save some money (instead of buying two jacks) ...

I was also looking at these online today. Gonna go by Sears tomorrow and check them out ..

We use it now to hold up one side of the race car because someone borrowed one of our jack stands. We jack it up and take the wheels off during the week so it's sitting under pressure all week.

I'd suggest 2 jacks.
1 lightweight AL race jack. makes for getting the mustang in the air quick and easy. plus carrying it to the track is no big deal and well it's cool. Mine came from pepboys had zero issues. I Know harbour freight has some too and they do well also. Only thing I'd suggest is check where the bolt that holds the handle in place is. Some are on the top and may catch on some lowered cars.
Then a good heavy duty, high lift jack for the truck. But unless your lifted I think most good race jacks should get the truck up high enough to pull the tires.

I use a craftsman SUV/truck jack mostly, but it doesn't fit when I have my car set low. It's lifting capacity is great though, and lifts with fewer pumps than my other jack; which happends to be an all aluminum "racing" style jack I picked up at Costco for pretty cheap! It worked real well when I first bought it...but now it takes LOTS of pumps, and they are way to hard...it probably needs more oil or to be bleed.

Craftsman = great though I also have an ATV/motorcycle jack from Craftsman (the aluminum one) which is awesome for lifting motors, rear ends, anything big/heavy (and motorcycles and ATV's lol).

Dayauummm "shipping weight 99lbs" .. One heavy jack (I don't really care if it's heavy or not to be honest) .. Says it goes up to 20in. which is cool! I am gonna make a decision tonight as to which one I'm gonna get.

i've tried those cheapie $20 jack. They just don't work that good. I have no complaint on one i use now(the Aluminum one), Just i want more hight, little more weight capacity, and low pickup hight. I'm sick of driving up on 2x6 first, then jack rear up, place it on ramp, then jack front up, slide another 2x6, so that I can get enough to slide jack under...

I got a Roush Racing one at Harbor Freight. Think I paid $80 at Harbor Freight during a sale. They sell some knockoffs there for less, that work just as good. I just wanted the Roush one. Takes like two pumps and the car is fully lifted.

That's ironic you posted that, my best friend got the Roush one yesterday from Sams Club. It lifts up to 22inches and like you said, only takes like 3-4 pumps. Pretty cool and best bang for your buck ... I had already ordered big red or I would have gotten one. He said it was like 75 bucks.

i had one of those cheap $20 parts store jacks.. it worked but i hated pumping 800 times just to get the car off the ground
