I thought I'd start a new thread, since I've reached the point were I can drive my car, plus I don't know where the other thread went.

For those who don't know the story, I got my tubo done and the first time I took it out, I came home on a flatbed. The next week I took the motor apart, put new head gaskets in and had it all back together in less than 10 hours all said and done. So yesterday a buddy and I decided to get it running again. When I first started it, I could tell the timing was way off. As we were getting ready to set the timing, my car started on FIRE. Thats right, it was on FIRE and the whole hotside was glowing orange. So we put the flames out with Vault and let it sit for 20 minutes. We thought that the timing had to be way retarted, and come to find out, we were exactly right. While I was in the car keeping it running, my buddy started to adjust the timing and everything just got instantly better. It idled and had great throttle response. So after letting it idle for a while, everything was awesome. So we decided to take it out ( in a blizzard). haha. Even thought we decided to not make any boost, it was amazing. I think I wet myself about five times. We had a perma-grin the whole time. Then we got it home, shut it off on purpose and everything was perfect. Nothing was leaking and everything was ice cold. The intercooler literally had ice on it.

So, tomorrow I am ordering a clutch and MSD 6al. To not ruin my T5 right away, I think I am just going to give a king cobra a try. Promotion and D&D both said that is what they would do, so I hope it works out. I am also getting my 3.55's put in soon. After I get 500 miles on the clutch, I'll be off to the dyno. Should be about two weeks from now, depending on the weather. We have about 4" of snow right now.

I'll post pics when I get my camera.

good job, i know the feeling. Believe it or not, my king cobra handled 500rwhp...but on the dyno, and only for a short time. I just blew a h-g, and hoping to get have my tuned checked as i got a new MAF.

where are you located?

Hopefully it will handle mine then. I am located in Michigan.

I forgot the most important part. I finally figured out why my HG's blew. My buddy that did my timing lined my white mark up with the hole instead of the tick. That means it was around 40 degrees advanced with the spout in, so who knows at part throttle. I can't believe nothing else happened. I'm so pissed at myself for not checking the timing MYSELF, but S**t happens.

That is so great to hear it all worked out in the end! :nice:
I understand and def know the perma-grin effect! :D
I left in my 3:73 and it ran awesome but spun as soon as I let the clutch out 1-4.
Added 3:55's and it ran with a smoother it was still too much gear for me and this is from
someone who loved 3:73's.
Now have in 3:08's and it launches great with out breaking the tires as much but as soon as I hit boost the tires let loose in 1-3.
IMO with a turbo you need a whole lot less gear and my gas mileage has def improved along with highway speed. I won't even go into that b/c you are already turbo'd and you see what happens when you mash the pedal in 5th on the highway.
It will def feel like there will not be enough road in front of you to open it all the way up b/c it just keeps going and climbing and boosting and going and boosting and going and boosting............:P
Congrats man and welcome to turbo side. :nice:

Congrats!!

That's always a good thing to find out what caused the HGs to let go so soon. Congrats man! Hope your weather situation improves soon so you can let 'er rip. Hope you have some plastic for the seats!! You'll have to change the seats soon if you keep wetting them!! :rlaugh: Let us know how she does on the dyno too..

got any vids?

I'll get some after the tune.

I just found out tonight that the guy that was going to do my gears can't do them for 3 weeks. I can't wait that long. So I guess I'll have to figure it out myself. Maybe he'll come over and just to the backlash. I really don't feel like doing it, but I must.

I also ordered a MSD 6al and a Super king cobra clutch.

p.s. I called D&D, Anderson, and Promotion today and Wally from Promotion was by far the most help. He knew his stuff and could actually recomend something to me. D&D wouldn't even recommend something or even want to talk or help me at all. I was very dissapointed. Wally is the man though!

Here are some pics I haven't posted yet.

As for the car, I have the MSD 6al, but am waiting on my clutch and have to attempt to do my gears this weekend. You guys should see the amount of salt of the roads, it is crazy. I kind of want to take it out, but I think I'll wait.
