Florida registration question

lol no emssions stuff down here yet...hurry up and go for it, get insurance and reregister it and rive away!

i don't think selling it off for another fox is the answer under any circumstances, if emissions is the only problem... as it sits right now the car is 21 years old, so you'll only have to have it inspected 4 more times before it is 25 yrs old and a "classic," exempt from passing emissions... "classic" cars only have to pass lights and safety

you could always just find a catted H pipe and slap it on there for inspection purposes anyway, but apparently you don't have to worry about emissions in FLA right now, so go now before they change the laws!

Did Florida do away with all of the emissions inspection stations in the state? Emissions testing WAS in effect in Miami-Dade, Hillsborough and other counties about 8 or 9 years ago. When I lived in Plant City I had to have my 1978 Thunderbird emissions tested every year to get my tag renewed. I was so happy when I moved to Marion County because Marion County didn't fall under the poor air quality testing results that some of the larger counties did. If the emissions testing has been completely done away with you will be fine because nobody will be looking. If these stations are still in certain counties the inspection will be done on the car and no catalytic converters will fail your car!

I had catalytic converters on my 1978 T-Bird, I just knocked out the honeycomb baffles in them and had empty converters on the car. I drove the car on regular unleaded all the time. When it was emissions time I would fill up from an empty tank with Amoco Gold (BP High-Test now), drive a half of the tank of fuel away, and then go to the emissions station. The car would pass, just barely, but pass. I'd go back to running regular unleaded after the inspection. The car failed the first time I tried having the car inspected with regular unleaded fuel in it so I did this with the Amoco Gold for about 4 years or so.

Florida abolished the emissions testing program back in 2000. Thank God.

only certain parts of florida were required. here in north florida we have never had to do an emission test

I ran no cats/smog for 8 years in Florida, there's no inspection.

dont worry man, here in FL, no emissions garbage. they took it off a while ago.

technically a "shop" cannot alter the emission system and if you sell the car you are "supposed" to sell it with cats and functional smog equipment. if you trade or sell the car at a dealersip/consignment lot you sign a waver saying all emissions equipment is intact. nobody in FL actually does this though.
