Flowmaster Exhaust any suggestions?

I'm looking for an exhaust for my 95 V6 stang. I want something that sounds nice. I know it wont sound like a GT with flows or anything, but do they sound nice? I mean can you hear them from a distance?

I would start off by changing out your Y-Pipe with either an X-pipe or H-pipe.

Then from there you have so many options to choose from, just about ALL GT exhausts can fit on the V6 at that point, with little/no modification.

A few companies sell the conversion kits which include the H-pipe for the V6 that welds in place of the Y-pipe... for about 75-100 bucks.

hmm.....so your saying if I got the conversion kit and got a some type of a GT exhaust, it would sound louder. What kind of a GT exhaust? I mean just regular flows or american thunder, etc? I know very little about exhausts and what makes them sound good, but I need one before car show season in a few weeks!

Plus my friend has a flowmaster on his supercharged GT and I was so like WOW!

:damnit: Ok, I'm going to answer your question. But first, I just want to know something: Why does everyone with a V6 want GT sound?!?! WTF is wrong with a good V6 engine sound? Anyway, now that I got that out, I will say that I am more than happy with my Flowmaster setup. I didn't get a conversion kit, I just got straight true dual from the headers back. Everyone always talks about buying conversion stuff, but I am more than happy with what my car sounds like. It's deep in the low RPM and in high RPMs, it sounds like a good street car. I'd have to agree with whoever said (in a different thread, so you might not have seen it.) it actually sounds like an old school Jaguar, which is bad a$$ for the record and not at all ricey. But, much like anything else, exhaust is all personal preference. What I like, you may hate. But yes, you can hear flowmasters in the distance and you should go with the American Thunder muffs. That's what I got. And for the people who are gonna hate on me b/c it sounds like I think I have the perfect exhaust system, that's not true. As I said, exhaust is personal preference and my exhaust works for me. That's all i know.

i agree i`ve been saying the 3.8 sounds like a 60`s racing Jaguar also. extrememustang1 look through the 1st three pages of of 6Cyl tech for dual exhaust threads. i`ve posted part #`s for MAC complete exhaust including H-Pipe for the 94-98 v6

Hmmm....I never thought of that. I thought to have "american thunder" mufflers you had the buy the whole exhaust, then buy the conversion.

The guy quoted me 300 for a new set of true dual flows installation and everything! I wonder if he could switch the regular muffs with american thunder ones. I'm just wondering because I've never heard American Thunders on a V6, do you have any sound clips or know where any ones are with only the Amercian thunder on the V6 W/O the conversion like yours?

The main reason why I ask is because honestly I've never heard a V6 stang with true duals. I've seen plenty of GT's with flows, but thats about all.

$300 is a very good price since I paid $400. You can put any kind of muffler you want really w/o having to buy the conversion. In answer to your question, absolutely, you can swap just the muffler. My little bro's '00 Camaro only has a Flowmaster muffler and tips, nothing else, and it sounds great. I have no conversions of any kind on mine either, just two stainless steel pipes leading to two chrome tips. Unfortunately, I don't have any sound clips but if you check out Flowmaster.com, I'm sure they have some sort of place you can go for some clips.

I just put a flowmaster force2 cat back on my 99 V6........$350 for em and $60 installed. They sound much better than stock GT and for $400 i reccomend them.
