Im probably getting a 97gt soon and the first thing I need to have is the car sounding nice. I can't decide between the flowmaster american thunder or the mac flowpath system. Both are 2.5'', and I assume the mac is mandrel bent but it doesn't say. In the reviews people are saying the mac sounds better. What do you think?

I have MAC. Sick sound. Go with MAC, or the stainless steel flowmaster. That's probably the only real advantage I see of Flows over the MAC.

They actually sound very much the same, but the Mac would be cheaper. Had it on mine and loved the sound, but hated the drone!

Both sound pretty similar to each other. I like the sound of both of them but I found the flowmasters for cheaper so I just went with them but either one you get is gonna sound awesome.

I'm a MAC fan myself. MAC makes stainless mufflers too.

I had both, prefer flowmaster better.

The two flowmaster cat-backs i have on my car fit perfectly while the one MAC cat-back i had was off by a lot. I had to take it to a muffler shop and have them add 3 INCHES of pipe before the muffler to get it to hang right. That was with stock H-pipe too.

Original 40 series flowmasters all the way, if you like the sound of a 1960's muscle car. You need to put on an mac off-road h-pipe on to get the true muscle car sound.

Mac. I have the flowpaths and a pro-chamber, and it's one of the best sounding combos for the mustang. It's got a very deep growl. You won't regret it!!

On my 5.0L,i had done both. When i bought my '03 GT,i went back to Flowmaster.
The fit of the Mac was not exact .The tailpipe coming over the axle, came straight down to the corner of the gas tank.Had to have the the pipe bent to fit properly.
