Put my new Flowmaster Super 40's on tonite. 2 1/4 in and out, in place of the Thrush Super Turbos.

These things are much quieter than I thought they would be, and quieter than the Thrushes. Little nicer sound, which is one reason I tried them.

And this is with longtubes, three feet of pipes and the Super 40's. No tailpipes or other stuff.

Are they always this quiet? I was thinking I would get louder. Maybe I need more motor?

I know its another muffler thread, but what does every one think?

Thanks, I sure hope so. I was thinking of calling them Hushmaster 40's.

Do tailpipes make them louder and improve the sound?

I hate to put tailpipes on because they are just more weight, and even the Flows are heavier than the Thrushes.

your worried about the weight of tailpipes? honestly thats like 20 pounds.

if you have 2 1/4" exhaust still, i wouldnt say you have a deticated track car to warrant not adding weight.

i had 2 chambers on mine, i added tailpipes eventually. cuts down in-car noise alot, gives it more of a "toned" sound outside. i would say the noise level is about the same but better sounding at the same time.

Anyone know if those Super 40's are noticeably quieter than Mac mufflers? I'm thinking of swapping mine out... looking for something just a little quieter than the Macs and with a nice tone. I know flows usually sound good but I don't know which version to go with...
