Fog lamp wires

The wiring for the fogs runs down from the main headlight bundles (right and left) I'd run out and take a picture but it's pretty dark out right now.. I'd start looking for the actual connectors first. IF you can't find those, um.... might have to go to the J/Y and get some to splice into your mess.

You may have already sorted this out...

Most of the wiring diagrams in the repair manuals will indicate wire colors. They will not tell you where the wires are routed though. If you find a plug that fits the fog lights you are all set as Ford did a fairly decent job of keeping duplicate plugs out of any given area.

Hey guys, thanks for the help. I'm helping him work on putting this stang back together...but man, it has been hacked up by some very un-automotive guinesses.
We looked and found that the foglamp plugs have been cut off. I have found a Tan and Black pair of wires on each side. I believe these are the ones that might have gone to the orginal foglamps. The previous owner had some Auto zone specials for foglamps that we pulled out yesterday.
Hoping someone might verify that the Tan and Black pair are indeed the foglamp wires.
Also, we tried to check for power on these wires but never got any readings.
Dang, sure wish I had my 93 Surge Demon to help compare with...definitely make things a lot easier.
Previous owners of stangs like this one should all be hung...then shot...then hung again!

I dont know if this this (courtesty of Tom Moss and S+2B's) helps or not.

I would go look at what color the main feed wire for the fogs is (it runs down the driver side harness on my '88 GT vert) but I doubt the colors are the same for BP-2's newer stang. I installed my relay at that point in the underhood harness.

I know you have done this stuff, but redundancy never hurts:

Make sure there is a fuse in the fog light fuseblock spot.

Make sure a relay was not retrofitted somewhere for the fogs (behind the headlight switch or under the hood are likely spots).

Make sure there is power leaving the fog light switch when the switch is powered and closed.

Use your own ground for the connector testing at the bulbs - the factory (or spliced) ground might be open/corroded.

Worst case, I would just run new wire - you can source a new power feed (i.e. so headlights dont need to be on for fogs to be on) and install a relay all at once. That might be easier than chasing through a rats nest.

I (should say WE) appreciate the list. I think we will go through it tomorrow and see if something was overlooked. It's amazing how much the little stuff slips your mind after only 3 yrs without my stang! Sheesh, I could have told anyone the color of any wire on the car back then. I remembering things fast though. We still haven't got the car back on the road yet, but getting close. Got the new plugs and wires, cap/rotor in tonight. Those dang equal length shorty headers...now I know why I went with unequal length..........................!!! Looks like the clutch cable has burned through, along with some other rubber parts.

I would say go ahead and just rewire the fog lights, as the factory wires are a little small and have been known to overheat or even cause fires. It is really not that hard to do, here is an article that I fornd very helpful.

I did this mod on my 93 GT a number of years ago and it worked well.
We might be able to do this on my son's car, but still not sure if there are still wires out under the bumper to power the foglights. I might still have to run our own light wires anyway.
